Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memory is of finding an old piano that was hidden away in her attic and being captivated by the sounds the instrument produced. Parents May-Britt as well as Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to take up music not as professional or as a pastime, but as a way to develop. In order to do so she began to write music that was her own. Her influences include renowned artists Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan along with her affinity with Bjork's style. Her mother encouraged her to perform her music publicly, not for the sake of trying to gain fame but rather to make others aware of how significant the music they compose and what they can bring to the world. When she was six She began playing on the piano. When she turned nine when she began to write songs. They didn't let her parents know about her musical journey until she was 14. Aurora was not a goal. She says she just likes creating songs. She believes that music is an ideal method of feeling whatever.
